The Equator Line Placed precisely at latitude -0-, the monument known as “MITAD DEL MUNDO”, marks the spot where and 18th century French and Spanish geographic expedition located the position of equator. Proximity to this geographic feature gave Ecuador its name. Straddling the line puts one in both the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time. Visit the monument and its complete Ethnographic museum. |

Pululahua: dry, green valley crater into which you can hike. About four miles beyond the monument at the middle of the world, there is paved turnoff to the right that leads to a scenic overlook of an eroded mountain area. Farms are located inside the crater. Altitude: 1.800 a 3.356 m. |
