The Equator Line

Placed precisely at latitude -0-, the monument known as “MITAD DEL MUNDO”, marks the spot where and 18th century French and Spanish geographic expedition located the position of equator. Proximity to this geographic feature gave Ecuador its name. Straddling the line puts one in both the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time. dry, green valley crater into which you can hike. About four miles beyond the monument at the middle of the world, there is paved turnoff to the right that leads to a scenic overlook of an eroded mountain area. Farms are located inside the crater.

Pululahua Crater - Quito - Ecuador
Inca fortress ruins RUMICUCHO which means “Stone corner”. Builded by the Incas in 1480 - 1500.There is a fantastic view of the canyon, Pululahua and area.
